Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them) reported that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) performed the night prayer in pairs (i.e., Rak'ah) and made it odd number by observing one Rak'ah (as Witr)..

حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم رات کو دو دو رکعت پڑھتے اور ایک رکعت سے وتر ادا فرماتے۔
