Narrated Umm al-Mu'minin A'ishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): I used to be very jealous of those women who offered themselves as a gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and I would say: How can a woman offer herself as a gift? Then when this verse was revealed: "O Prophet (peace be upon him)! You may keep away whom you will of them, and you may take to yourself whom you will, and whom you desire (to take back) of those you have set aside (there is no blame on you)," I said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): By Allah, I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desire (peace be upon him). ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہمیں ان عورتوں پر بہت غیرت کرتی تھی جو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو اپنی جان ہبہ کر دیتی تھیں۔ اور میں کہتی تھی کہ عورت اپنی جان کو کیسے ہبہ کرتی ہو گی؟ پھر جب یہ آیت اتری کہ”اے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم)! جس کو آپ چاہیں اپنے سے دور رکھیں اور جس کو آپ چاہیں اپنے پاس جگہ دیں اور جس کو علیحدہ کیا ہے اس کو طلب کر لیں“تو میں نے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کہا کہ اللہ کی قسم میں دیکھتی ہوں کہ وہ اللہ تعالیٰ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی آرزو کے موافق جلد حکم فرما دیتا ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 821]
