Narrated Wabarah (that is, Ibn Abd al-Rahman), he said: I was sitting with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a man came to him and said, "Is it correct for me to perform Tawaf before going to Arafat?" Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Yes." So he said, "But Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says, do not perform Tawaf before going to Arafat." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performed Hajj and circumambulated the House before going to Arafat. So if you are truthful (in your faith), which is better to take—the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), or of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)?" {It is a point for reflection that when the statement of even so great and learned a jurist Companion as Ibn Abbas is contrary to the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), one is not even permitted to look toward his statement—so how much more so is the case today, where obeying the statements of the imams or spiritual guides without question is taken to be the religion.} In another narration there is: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "We saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) enter ihram for Hajj, and circumambulate the House, and do the say between Safa and Marwah."
الترجمة الأردية
وبرہ (یعنی ابن عبدالرحمن) کہتے ہیں کہمیں سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس بیٹھا ہوا تھا کہ ان کے پاس ایک آدمی آیا اور اس نے کہا کہ مجھے عرفات میں جانے سے پہلے طواف کرنا صحیح ہے؟ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ ہاں تو اس نے کہا کہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما تو کہتے ہیں کہ عرفات میں جانے سے پہلے طواف نہ کرو۔ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے حج کیا اور عرفات میں جانے سے پہلے بیت اللہ کا طواف کیا۔ تو اگر تو (اپنے ایمان میں) سچا ہے تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا قول لینا بہتر ہے یا سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کا؟ } مقام عبرت ہے کہ سیدنا ابن عباس جیسے جلیل القدر فقیہ صحابی کی بات جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی بات کے خلاف ہو تو ان کی بات کی طرف دیکھنے کی بھی اجازت نہیں ہے چہ جائیکہ آج کی طرح ائمہ یا پیر و مرشد کی باتوں پر بلا چوں چراں عمل کو دین سمجھ لیا جائے {۔ ایک دوسری روایت میں ہے، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ ہم نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو دیکھا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے حج کا احرام باندھا اور بیت اللہ کا طواف کیا اور صفا اور مروہ کی سعی کی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 703]
