Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) travelled in Ramadan and fasted until he reached the place of 'Usfan. Then he (peace be upon him) called for a cup with some drink in it, and he (peace be upon him) drank it during the day so that all the people might see, and he continued to be non-fasting until he reached Mecca. Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) both fasted and broke his fast, so whoever wishes may fast, and whoever wishes may break the fast.
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے رمضان میں سفر کیا اور روزہ رکھا یہاں تک کہ عسفان کے مقام پر پہنچے۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک پیالہ منگوایا، اس میں پینے کی کوئی چیز تھی تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کو دن میں پیا تاکہ سب لوگ دیکھیں۔ مکہ میں پہنچنے تک افطار کرتے رہے۔ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے روزہ بھی رکھا اور افطار بھی کیا، پس جس کا جی چاہے وہ روزہ رکھے اور جس کا جی چاہے افطار کرے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 596]
