Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), mentioning the moon, said: "When you see the crescent, fast; and when you see it, break the fast. But if clouds obscure it, then complete thirty days of fasting (and after that celebrate the 'Id)."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے چاند کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے فرمایا کہ جب تم چاند دیکھو تو روزہ رکھو۔ اور جب تم اس کو دیکھو تب ہی افطار کرو۔ پھر اگر بادل آ جائیں تو تیس روزے پورے رکھ لو (اس کے بعد عید کرو)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 574]
