Narrated Hakim ibn Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him): I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for wealth, and he (peace be upon him) gave me; I asked again, and he (peace be upon him) gave again; I asked again, and he (peace be upon him) gave again. Then he said: "This wealth is green and sweet. So whoever takes it without asking, or takes it with the giver's gladness (not by insistently demanding it), it will be blessed for him; and whoever takes it by debasing himself (that is, by asking or clinging insistently), it will not be blessed for him, and his wealth is like one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower hand."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا حکیم بن حزام رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے مال مانگا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے دیا، میں نے پھر مانگا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے پھر دیا، میں نے پھر مانگا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے پھر دیا، پھر فرمایا کہ یہ مال سرسبز اور میٹھا ہے۔ پس جس نے اس کو بغیر مانگے لیا یا دینے والے کی خوشی سے لیا (نہ کہ آپ زبردستی تقاضا کر کے لیا) تو اس میں برکت ہوتی ہے اور جس نے اپنے نفس کو ذلیل کر کے (یعنی سوال کر کے یا چمٹ کر) لیا تو اس میں برکت نہیں ہوتی اور اس کا مال ایسا ہوتا ہے کہ کوئی شخص کھاتا تو ہے لیکن سیر نہیں ہوتا اور اوپر کا ہاتھ نیچے کے ہاتھ سے عمدہ ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 561]
