Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to visit him, and Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, Sa'd and Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) were with him. When he came to him, he found him unconscious, so he asked: Has he passed away? The people said: No. Then he began to weep. When the people saw him weeping, they all began to weep. He said: Do you hear? Allah does not punish for the tears of the eyes nor for the grief of the heart; rather He punishes because of this (he pointed towards his tongue), or He shows mercy (that is, when one utters a good word from the mouth, He shows mercy, and when one utters an evil word, He punishes). الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا سعد بن عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیمار ہوئے تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمان کی عیادت کو آئے اور سیدنا عبدالرحمن بن عوف، سعد اور عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما ان کے ساتھ تھے۔ جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمان کے پاس آئے تو انہیں بیہوش پایا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے پوچھا کہ کیا انتقال ہو گیا ہے؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ نہیں۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمرونے لگے۔ لوگوں نے جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو روتے دیکھا تو سب رونے لگے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ سنتے ہو، اللہ تعالیٰ آنکھوں کے آنسوؤں پر اور دل کے غم پر عذاب نہیں کرتا، وہ تو اس (آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے زبان کی طرف اشارہ کیا) کی بنا پر عذاب کرتا ہے یا رحمت کرتا ہے۔ (یعنی جب کلمہ خیر منہ سے نکالے تو رحم کرتا ہے اور جب کلمہ شر نکالے تو عذاب کرتا ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 462]
