It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said one day to his Companions: "Do you know where this sun goes?" They said: Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) know best. He (peace be upon him) said: "It keeps moving until it reaches its resting place beneath the Throne, where it falls in prostration (the nature of this prostration is known only to Allah). Then it remains in this state until it is commanded: Rise and go back to where you came from; so it returns and rises from its place of rising. Then it keeps moving until it reaches its resting place beneath the Throne and prostrates. Then it remains in this state until it is told: Rise and return to where you came from; so it rises again from its place of rising. And so it keeps moving. Then one time it will move in this way, and the people will notice nothing unusual in its course, until it reaches its resting place beneath the Throne. At that time it will be told: Rise and rise from the west, from where you set; so it will rise from the west." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Do you know when this will be?" (i.e., the sun's rising from the west) — "This will be at the time when it will not benefit anyone to believe who had not believed before, or had not earned good in his faith."

سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک دن اپنے صحابہ سے فرمایا: تم جانتے ہو کہ یہ سورج کہاں جاتا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ اللہ اور اس کا رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمخوب جانتے ہیں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یہ چلتا رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اپنے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ پر عرش کے نیچے آتا ہے، وہاں سجدہ میں گر جاتا ہے (اس سجدہ کا مفہوم اللہ تعالیٰ ہی جانتا ہے) پھر اسی حال میں رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اس کو حکم ہوتا ہے کہ اونچا ہو جا اور جا جہاں سے آیا ہے، تو وہ لوٹ آتا ہے اور اپنے نکلنے کی جگہ سے نکلتا ہے۔ پھر چلتا رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اپنے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ پر عرش کے نیچے آتا ہے اور سجدہ کرتا ہے۔ پھر اسی حال میں رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اس سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اونچا ہو جا اور لوٹ جا جہاں سے آیا ہے۔ وہ پھر اپنے نکلنے کی جگہ سے نکلتا ہے۔ اور پھر اسی طرح چلتا ہے۔ ایک بار اسی طرح چلے گا اور لوگوں کو اس کی چال میں کوئی فرق محسوس نہ ہو گا یہاں تک کہ اپنے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ پر عرش کے نیچے آئے گا۔ اس وقت اس سے کہا جائے گا کہ اونچا ہو جا اور مغرب کی طرف سے نکل جدھر تو غروب ہوتا ہے، تو وہ مغرب کی طرف سے نکلے گا۔ پھر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تم جانتے ہو کہ یہ کب ہو گا؟ (یعنی سورج کا مغرب کی طرف سے نکلنا) یہ اس وقت ہو گا”جب کسی کو ایمان لانا فائدہ نہ دے گا جو پہلے سے ایمان نہ لایا ہو یا اس نے اپنے ایمان میں نیک کام نہ کئے ہوں“۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2138]
