Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), said: I was standing near the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when one of the Jewish scholars came and said, "Peace be upon you, O Muhammad (peace be upon him)!" I shoved him so hard that he nearly fell. He said, "Why do you shove me?" I said, "Why do you not say 'Messenger of Allah' (instead of merely naming the Prophet)?" He said, "We call him by the name his family gave him." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "My name that my family gave me is Muhammad (peace be upon him)." The Jew said, "I have come to ask you something." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Would it benefit you if I told you something?" He said, "I will listen with both my ears." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) drew a line on the ground with the stick that was in his blessed hand (as one does when thinking) and said, "Ask." The Jew said, "On the day when this earth and heaven will be changed into another earth and heaven, where will the people be at that time?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "At that time the people will be standing in darkness beside the Bridge (Sirat)." He asked, "Then who will be the first to cross this bridge?" He (peace be upon him) said, "The needy among the Emigrants." (By the Emigrants are meant those who left their homes with the Prophet (peace be upon him), bore patiently the hardship of poverty and hunger, and cast the world aside.) The Jew said, "Then when they enter Paradise, what will be their first breakfast / gift?" He (peace be upon him) said, "A piece of the liver of a fish (which is most delicious and nourishing)." He said, "Then what will be their morning meal?" He (peace be upon him) said, "For them will be slaughtered the ox that used to graze in Paradise." Then he asked, "After eating this, what will they drink?" He (peace be upon him) said, "The water of a spring called Salsabil." The Jew said, "You have spoken the truth, and I have come to ask you about something which no one in the world knows except a prophet (peace be upon him), or perhaps one or two other men know it." He (peace be upon him) said, "Would it benefit you if I told you that thing?" He said, "I will listen with my ear." Then he said, "I ask about the child." He (peace be upon him) said, "The man's fluid is white and the woman's fluid is yellow. When these two come together, and the man's fluid prevails over the woman's fluid, then by Allah's command a boy is born; and when the woman's fluid prevails over the man's fluid, then by Allah's command a girl is born." The Jew said, "Indeed you have spoken the truth, and truly you are a prophet." Then he turned and went away. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "When he asked me these questions, I had no knowledge of anything, until Allah the Exalted gave me knowledge of it."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ثوبان رضی اللہ عنہ مولیٰ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکہتے ہیں کہمیں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس کھڑا تھا کہ یہودی عالموں میں سے ایک عالم آیا اور بولا کہ السلام علیکم یا محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم)! میں نے اس کو ایسے زور سے ایک دھکا دیا کہ وہ گرتے گرتے بچا۔ وہ بولا کہ تو مجھے دھکا کیوں دیتا ہے؟ میں نے کہا کہ تو (نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا نام لیتا ہے اور) رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکیوں نہیں کہتا؟ وہ بولا کہ ہم ان کو اس نام سے پکارتے ہیں جو ان کے گھر والوں نے رکھا ہے۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ میرا نام جو گھر والوں نے رکھا ہے وہ محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) ہے۔ یہودی نے کہا کہ میں تمہارے پاس کچھ پوچھنے کو آیا ہوں۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ بھلا میں اگر تجھے کچھ بتلاؤں تو تجھے فائدہ ہو گا؟ اس نے کہا کہ میں اپنے دونوں کانوں سے سنوں گا۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس چھڑی سے جو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہاتھ مبارک میں تھی زمین پر لکیر کھینچی (جیسے کوئی سوچتے وقت کرتا ہے) اور فرمایا کہ پوچھ۔ یہودی نے کہا کہ جس دن یہ زمین آسمان بدل کر دوسرے زمین و آسمان ہوں گے، لوگ اس وقت کہاں ہوں گے؟ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ لوگ اس وقت اندھیرے میں پل صراط کے پاس کھڑے ہوں گے۔ اس نے پوچھا کہ پھر سب سے پہلے کون لوگ اس پل سے پار ہوں گے؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ مہاجرین میں جو محتاج ہیں۔ (مہاجرین سے مراد وہ لوگ ہیں جو نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ گھربار چھوڑ کر نکل گئے اور فقر و فاقہ کی تکلیف پر صبر کیا اور دنیا پر لات ماری) یہودی نے کہا کہ پھر جب وہ لوگ جنت میں جائیں گے تو ان کا پہلا ناشتہ / تحفہ کیا ہو گا؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ مچھلی کے جگر کا ٹکڑا (جو نہایت مزیدار اور مقوی ہوتا ہے)۔ اس نے کہا پھر صبح کا کھانا کیا ہو گا؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ ان کے لئے وہ بیل کاٹا جائے گا جو جنت میں چرا کرتا تھا۔ پھر اس نے پوچھا کہ یہ کھا کر وہ کیا پئیں گے؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ سلسبیل نامی چشمہ کا پانی۔ اس یہودی نے کہا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سچ فرمایا اور میں آپ سے ایک ایسی بات پوچھنے آیا ہوں جس کو دنیا میں کوئی نہیں جانتا سوائے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) کے یا شاید ایک دو آدمی اور جانتے ہوں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اگر میں تجھے وہ بات بتا دوں تو تجھے فائدہ ہو گا؟ اس نے کہا کہ میں اپنے کان سے سن لوں گا۔ پھر اس نے کہا کہ میں بچے کے بارے میں پوچھتا ہوں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ مرد کا پانی سفید ہے اور عورت کا پانی زرد ہے، جب یہ دونوں اکٹھے ہوتے ہیں اور مرد کی منی عورت کی منی پر غالب ہوتی ہے، تو اللہ کے حکم سے لڑکا پیدا ہوتا ہے اور جب مرد کی منی پر عورت کی منی غالب ہوتی ہے تو اللہ کے حکم سے لڑکی پیدا ہوتی ہے۔ یہودی نے کہا کہ البتہ آپ نے سچ کہا۔ اور بیشک البتہ آپ نبی ہیں۔ پھر وہ لوٹا اور چلا گیا۔ پس رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس نے جب مجھ سے یہ سوالات کئے تو مجھے کسی چیز کا علم نہیں تھا، حتیٰ کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے مجھے اس کا علم دے دیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1963]
