Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Allah, the Majestic, created Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) in His image, and his height was sixty cubits. When He had created him, He said, 'Go and greet those angels sitting in a group, and listen to how they respond to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) went and said, 'Peace be upon you (al-Salamu 'alaykum).' The angels replied, 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah (al-Salamu 'alayka wa rahmatullah),' that is, they added 'and the mercy of Allah.' So whoever enters Paradise will be in the form of Adam (peace be upon him), that is, sixty cubits tall. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Adam (peace be upon him) was sixty cubits, then after him people's stature kept diminishing until now."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: اللہ جل جلالہ نے سیدنا آدم علیہ السلام کو اپنی صورت پر بنایا اور ان کا قد ساٹھ ہاتھ کا تھا۔ جب ان کو بنا چکا تو فرمایا کہ جاؤ اور گروہ کی شکل میں بیٹھے ہوئے فرشتوں کو سلام کرو اور سنو کہ وہ تجھے کیا جواب دیتے ہیں کیونکہ تیرا اور تیری اولاد کا یہی سلام ہو گا۔ سیدنا آدم علیہ السلام گئے اور کہا کہ السلام علیکم۔ فرشتوں نے جواب میں کہا کہ السلام علیک ورحمۃ اللہ۔ یعنی ورحمۃ اللہ بڑھا دیا۔ سو جو کوئی بہشت میں جائے گا، وہ آدم علیہ السلام کی صورت پر ہو گا یعنی ساٹھ ہاتھ کا لمبا۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ آدم علیہ السلام ساٹھ ہاتھ کے تھے، پھر ان کے بعد لوگوں کے قد اب تک گھٹتے گئے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1958]
