It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "There was a man who had never done any good deed. When he was about to die, he said to his family, '(After my death) burn me to ashes, then scatter half the ashes in the wilderness and half in the sea. By Allah! If Allah gets hold of me, He will punish me with a punishment such as He has not inflicted on anyone in the world.' When the man died, his people did just that. Allah commanded the wilderness, and it gathered all the ashes. Then He commanded the sea, and it too gathered them. Then Allah said to the man, 'Why did you do this?' He said, 'O Allah! You know well that I did this only out of fear of You.' So Allah forgave him."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: ایک شخص نے کبھی کوئی نیکی نہیں کی تھی، جب وہ مرنے لگا تو اپنے لوگوں سے بولا کہ (مرنے کے بعد) مجھے جلا کر راکھ کر دینا، پھر آدھی راکھ جنگل میں اڑا دینا اور آدھی سمندر میں اللہ کی قسم! اگر اللہ مجھے پائے گا تو ایسا عذاب کرے گا کہ ویسا عذاب دنیا میں کسی کو نہیں کرے گا۔ جب وہ شخص مر گیا تو لوگوں نے ایسا ہی کیا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے جنگل کو حکم دیا تو اس نے سب راکھ اکٹھی کر دی۔ پھر سمندر کو حکم دیا تو اس نے بھی اکٹھی کر دی۔ پھر اللہ نے اس شخص سے فرمایا کہ تو نے ایسا کیوں کیا؟ وہ بولا کہ اے اللہ! تو خوب جانتا ہے کہ میں نے یہ صرف تیرے ڈر کی وجہ سے کیا تھا۔ پس اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کو بخش دیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1934]
