الترجمة الإنجليزية
It is narrated from Sayyiduna 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he commanded a man, when going to sleep, to recite: "O Allah! You created my soul and You will take it in death; to You belong its death and its life. If You keep it alive, then guard it, and if You cause it to die, then forgive it. O Allah! I ask You for well-being." A man said to him, "Did you hear this supplication from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He said, "Rather, I heard it from one who was better than 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), namely the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہانہوں نے ایک آدمی کو سوتے وقت یہ پڑھنے کو کہا کہ”اے اللہ! تو نے میری جان کو پیدا کیا اور تو ہی مارے گا، تیرے ہی لئے جینا اور مرنا ہے، اگر تو اس کو زندہ کر دے تو اس کو اپنی حفاظت میں رکھ اور اگر مارے تو اس کو بخش دے۔ اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے عافیت کا سوال کر رہا ہوں“ان سے ایک شخص بولا کہ تم نے یہ دعا سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنی ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ بلکہ ان سے سنی جو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے بہتر تھے، یعنی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1898]
