Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on a military expedition when an Emigrant struck the buttocks of a Helper (with his hand or with a sword). The Helper called out, "O Helpers, come!" and the Emigrant called out, "O Emigrants, come!" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "This is the call of the era of ignorance." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah! An Emigrant has struck the buttocks of a Helper." He (peace be upon him) said, "Leave this matter, for it is filthy." This news reached Abdullah ibn Ubayy (the hypocrite), and he said, "Have the Emigrants done this? By Allah, when we return to Medina, the more honorable of us will surely expel the more contemptible from it." (God forbid — this hypocrite deemed himself the honorable one and called the Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] the contemptible.) Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Let me strike off the neck of this hypocrite." He (peace be upon him) said, "Let him be (O Umar)! Lest people say that Muhammad (peace be upon him) kills his own companions." (Although that outcast deserved it, the Prophet [peace be upon him], out of wisdom, did not punish him.)

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ ایک غزوہ میں تھے کہ ایک مہاجر نے ایک انصار کی سرین پر مارا (ہاتھ سے یا تلوار سے) انصاری نے آواز دی کہ اے انصار دوڑو! اور مہاجر نے آواز دی کہ اے مہاجرین دوڑو! رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یہ تو جاہلیت کا سا پکارنا ہے۔ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! ایک مہاجر نے ایک انصاری کی سرین پر مارا ہے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس بات کو چھوڑو کہ یہ گندی بات ہے۔ یہ خبر عبداللہ بن ابی (منافق) کو پہنچی تو وہ بولا کہ مہاجرین نے ایسا کیا؟ اللہ کی قسم ہم مدینہ کو لوٹیں گے تو ہم میں سے عزت والا شخص ذلیل شخص کو وہاں سے نکال دے گا (معاذاللہ اس منافق نے اپنے آپ کو عزت والا قرار دیا اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو ذلیل کہا) سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! مجھے اس منافق کی گردن مارنے دیجئیے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جانے دے (اے عمر)! کہیں لوگ یہ نہ کہیں کہ محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماپنے ساتھیوں کو قتل کرتے ہیں۔ (گو وہ مردود اسی قابل تھا لیکن آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مصلحت سے اس کو سزا نہ دی)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1811]
