Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When news reached Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had been sent as a prophet in Makkah, he said to his brother: Ride to that valley and go see the man who says that news comes to him from heaven; listen to his speech, then come to me. He set out until he came to Makkah and heard his (peace be upon him) speech, then returned to Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I saw the man; he commands good qualities and recites a speech that is not poetry. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am not satisfied with this. Then he himself took provisions for the journey and a waterskin, until he came to Makkah and entered the Sacred Mosque. There he sought out the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), while he did not recognize him (peace be upon him), and he did not think it proper to ask, until night fell and he lay down. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him and recognized that he was a traveler. Then he went behind him, but neither spoke to the other, until morning came. Then he carried his provisions and waterskin to the mosque and stayed there all day and did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) until evening. Then he went to his sleeping place. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by from there and said: The time has not yet come for this man to know his lodging. Then he raised him up and took him along, but neither spoke to the other. Then on the third day the same happened, and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had him stay with him, then said: Why do you not tell me the matter for which you have come to this city? Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you make a covenant and promise to me that you will show me the way, then I will tell. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) promised, so he told him. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: That man is truthful, and he is indeed the Messenger of Allah the Exalted. In the morning walk with me; if I see anything of danger in which there is fear for your life, I will stand as one who pours out water (that is, I will pretend to urinate), and if I walk on, then you too follow behind me. Wherever I enter, you enter too. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) did just that and followed behind him, until Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reached with him. Then Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and became Muslim on that very spot. And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Go to your people and inform them of the religion, until my command reaches you. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Him in whose hand is my soul, I will proclaim this word (that is, of accepting the religion) aloud to the people of Makkah. Then Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) went out into the mosque and cried out: I bear witness that there is no true god but Allah, and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the true Messenger of Allah. The people fell upon him and beat him until they laid him flat. Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came there and bent over Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to the people: Woe to you! Do you not know that this man is of (the tribe of) Ghifar, and that your trade route toward Syria passes through the land of (the tribe of) Ghifar? (They will cut off your trade.) Then he freed Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) from those people. سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہجب سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ کو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے مکہ میں مبعوث ہونے کی خبر پہنچی تو انہوں نے اپنے بھائی سے کہا کہ سوار ہو کر اس وادی کو جا اور اس شخص کو دیکھ کر آ جو کہتا ہے مجھے آسمان سے خبر آتی ہے، ان کی بات سن پھر میرے پاس آ۔ وہ روانہ ہوا، یہاں تک کہ مکہ میں آیا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا کلام سنا، پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس لوٹ کر گیا اور بولا کہ میں نے اس شخص کو دیکھا، وہ اچھی خصلتوں کا حکم کرتا ہے اور ایک کلام سناتا ہے جو شعر نہیں ہے۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ مجھے اس سے تسلی نہیں ہوئی۔ پھر انہوں نے خود زادراہ لیا اور پانی کی ایک مشک لی یہاں تک کہ مکہ میں آئے اور مسجدالحرام میں داخل ہوئے۔ وہاں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو ڈھونڈا اور وہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو پہچانتے نہ تھے اور انہوں نے پوچھنا بھی مناسب نہ جانا، یہاں تک کہ رات ہو گئی اور وہ لیٹ رہے۔ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو دیکھا اور پہچانا کہ کوئی مسافر ہے پھر ان کے پیچھے گئے لیکن کسی نے دوسرے سے بات نہیں کی یہاں تک کہ صبح ہو گئی۔ پھر وہ اپنا توشہ اور مشک مسجد میں اٹھا لائے اور سارا دن وہاں رہے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو شام تک نہ دیکھا۔ پھر وہ اپنے سونے کی جگہ میں چلے گئے۔ وہاں سے سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ گزرے اور کہا کہ ابھی وہ وقت نہیں آیا کہ اس شخص کو اپنا ٹھکانہ معلوم ہو۔ پھر ان کو کھڑا کیا اور ان کو ساتھ لے گئے لیکن کسی نے دوسرے سے بات نہ کی۔ پھر تیسرے دن بھی ایسا ہی ہوا۔ اور سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو اپنے ساتھ کھڑا کیا، پھر کہا کہ تم مجھ سے وہ بات کیوں نہیں کہتے جس کے لئے تم اس شہر میں آئے ہو؟ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اگر تم مجھ سے عہد اور وعدہ کرتے ہو کہ راہ بتلاؤ گے تو میں بتاتا ہوں۔ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے وعدہ کیا تو انہوں نے بتایا۔ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ وہ شخص سچے ہیں اور وہ بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ کے رسول ہیں اور تم صبح کو میرے ساتھ چلنا، اگر میں کوئی خوف کی بات دیکھوں گا جس میں تمہاری جان کا ڈر ہو تو میں کھڑا ہو جاؤں گا جیسے کوئی پانی بہاتا ہے (یعنی پیشاب کا بہانہ کروں گا) اور اگر چلا جاؤں تو تم بھی میرے پیچھے پیچھے چلے آنا۔ جہاں میں گھسوں وہاں تم بھی گھس آنا۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایسا ہی کیا اور ان کے پیچھے پیچھے چلے یہاں تک کہ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس پہنچے اور سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ بھی ان کے ساتھ پہنچے۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی باتیں سنیں اور اسی جگہ مسلمان ہوئے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اپنی قوم کے پاس جا اور ان کو دین کی خبر کر یہاں تک کہ میرا حکم تجھے پہنچے۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ قسم اس کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے کہ میں تو یہ بات (یعنی دین قبول کرنے کی) مکہ والوں کو پکار کر سنا دوں گا۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نکل کر مسجد میں آئے اور چلا کر بولے کہ”میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے اور محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماللہ کے سچے رسول ہیں“۔ لوگوں نے ان پر حملہ کیا اور ان کو مارتے مارتے لٹا دیا۔ سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ وہاں آئے اور سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ پر جھکے اور لوگوں سے کہا کہ تمہای خرابی ہو، تم نہیں جانتے کہ یہ شخص (قوم) غفار کا ہے اور تمہارا سوداگری کا راستہ شام کی طرف (قوم) غفار کے ملک پر سے ہے (تو وہ تمہاری تجارت بند کر دیں گے)۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ کو ان لوگوں سے چھڑا لیا۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے دوسرے دن پھر ویسا ہی کیا اور لوگ دوڑے اور مارا اور سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ آئے اور انہیں چھڑا یہاں تک کہ صبح ہو گئی۔ پھر وہ اپنا توشہ اور مشک مسجد میں اٹھا لائے اور سارا دن وہاں رہے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو شام تک نہ دیکھا۔ پھر وہ اپنے سونے کی جگہ میں چلے گئے۔ وہاں سے سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ گزرے اور کہا کہ ابھی وہ وقت نہیں آیا کہ اس شخص کو اپنا ٹھکانہ معلوم ہو۔ پھر ان کو کھڑا کیا اور ان کو ساتھ لے گئے لیکن کسی نے دوسرے سے بات نہ کی۔ پھر تیسرے دن بھی ایسا ہی ہوا۔ اور سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو اپنے ساتھ کھڑا کیا، پھر کہا کہ تم مجھ سے وہ بات کیوں نہیں کہتے جس کے لئے تم اس شہر میں آئے ہو؟ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اگر تم مجھ سے عہد اور وعدہ کرتے ہو کہ راہ بتلاؤ گے تو میں بتاتا ہوں۔ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے وعدہ کیا تو انہوں نے بتایا۔ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ وہ شخص سچے ہیں اور وہ بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ کے رسول ہیں اور تم صبح کو میرے ساتھ چلنا، اگر میں کوئی خوف کی بات دیکھوں گا جس میں تمہاری جان کا ڈر ہو تو میں کھڑا ہو جاؤں گا جیسے کوئی پانی بہاتا ہے (یعنی پیشاب کا بہانہ کروں گا) اور اگر چلا جاؤں تو تم بھی میرے پیچھے پیچھے چلے آنا۔ جہاں میں گھسوں وہاں تم بھی گھس آنا۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایسا ہی کیا اور ان کے پیچھے پیچھے چلے یہاں تک کہ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس پہنچے اور سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ بھی ان کے ساتھ پہنچے۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی باتیں سنیں اور اسی جگہ مسلمان ہوئے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اپنی قوم کے پاس جا اور ان کو دین کی خبر کر یہاں تک کہ میرا حکم تجھے پہنچے۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ قسم اس کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے کہ میں تو یہ بات (یعنی دین قبول کرنے کی) مکہ والوں کو پکار کر سنا دوں گا۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نکل کر مسجد میں آئے اور چلا کر بولے کہ”میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے اور محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماللہ کے سچے رسول ہیں“۔ لوگوں نے ان پر حملہ کیا اور ان کو مارتے مارتے لٹا دیا۔ سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ وہاں آئے اور سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ پر جھکے اور لوگوں سے کہا کہ تمہای خرابی ہو، تم نہیں جانتے کہ یہ شخص (قوم) غفار کا ہے اور تمہارا سوداگری کا راستہ شام کی طرف (قوم) غفار کے ملک پر سے ہے (تو وہ تمہاری تجارت بند کر دیں گے)۔ پھر سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ کو ان لوگوں سے چھڑا لیا۔ سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے دوسرے دن پھر ویسا ہی کیا اور لوگ دوڑے اور مارا اور سیدنا عباس رضی
