Abu al-Ahwas said: We were in the house of Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), and there were several companions of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) present, and we were looking at a copy of the Glorious Qur'an, when Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up. Abu Mas'ud said: I do not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) left behind him anyone with greater knowledge of the Qur'an than the man who is standing. Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you say that, (then it is true), and his state was such that when we were absent, he was present, and when we were kept back, he was given permission (to go to the Messenger of Allah).
الترجمة الأردية
ابوالاحوص کہتے ہیں کہہم ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ کے گھر میں تھے اور وہاں سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کے کئی ساتھی تھے اور ایک قرآن مجید دیکھ رہے تھے کہ اتنے میں سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے۔ ابومسعود نے کہا کہ میں نہیں جانتا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اپنے بعد قرآن کا جاننے والا اس شخص سے زیادہ کوئی چھوڑا ہو جو کھڑا ہے۔ سیدنا ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اگر تم یہ کہتے ہو (تو صحیح ہے) اور ان کا یہ حال تھا کہ جب ہم غائب ہوتے تو یہ حاضر رہتے اور جب ہم روکے جاتے تو ان کو (رسول اللہ کے پاس جانے کی) اجازت ملتی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1694]
