Narrated Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id al-Khudri from his father Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): He said: On Monday I went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) toward the Mosque of Quba. When we reached the quarter of Banu Salim, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood at the door of Utban bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and called out to him, and he came out dragging his lower garment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "We have caused him to hurry." Utban (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! If a man withdraws quickly from his wife and no semen is discharged, what is the ruling (that is, must he bathe or not)?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The use of water is because of the discharge of water" (that is, bathing becomes obligatory upon the discharge of semen).

سیدنا عبدالرحمن بن ابی سعید خدری اپنے والد سیدنا ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہانہوں نے کہا کہ میں پیر کے دن رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ مسجد قباء کی طرف نکلا۔ جب ہم بنی سالم کے محلے میں پہنچے، تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا عتبان بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کے دروازے پر کھڑے ہو کر اس کو آواز دی تو وہ اپنی ازار گھسیٹتے ہوئے نکلے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ ہم نے اس کو جلدی میں مبتلا کر دیا۔ سیدنا عتبان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! اگر کوئی شخص جلدی اپنی عورت سے الگ ہو جائے اور منی نہ نکلے، تو اس کا کیا حکم ہے (یعنی غسل کرے یا نہیں)؟ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ پانی کا استعمال پانی نکلنے سے ہے (یعنی منی نکلنے سے غسل واجب ہوتا ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 151]
