Narrated Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered that dogs be killed. Then he said: "What is the matter with these people and the dogs?" Then he permitted keeping a dog for hunting and for guarding livestock (that is, for guarding goats), and he said: "When a dog puts its mouth into a vessel and drinks, wash it seven times, and scour it the eighth time with earth." And in the narration of Yahya bin Sa'id it is stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted a dog for hunting, for goats, and for guarding crops.
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مغفل رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے کتوں کو مار ڈالنے کا حکم کیا۔ پھر فرمایا کہ ان لوگوں اور کتوں کا کیا حال ہے؟ پھر شکار کے لئے اور مویشیوں کی حفاظت کے لئے کتا پالنے کی اجازت دی (یعنی بکریوں کی حفاظت کے لئے) اور فرمایا کہ جب کتا برتن میں منہ ڈال کر پئے تو اس کو سات بار دھوؤ اور آٹھویں بار مٹی سے مانجھو۔ اور یحییٰ بن سعید کی روایت میں ہے کہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے شکار، بکریوں اور کھیتی کی حفاظت کے لئے کتے کی اجازت دی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 119]
