Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We went out with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on an expedition, and we six men had only one camel. We would mount it in turns. Our feet became worn out, and both my feet split open and the nails also fell off, so we bound our feet with rags. That is why this battle was named Dhat al-Riqa (that is, the battle of rags and tatters), because we would tie rags on our feet due to their splitting. Abu Burdah (the narrator) said that Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith once and then (out of fear of ostentation) did not relate it (again). And Abu Usamah said that no narrator other than Burayd added the words, "May Allah the Exalted reward him."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہمراہ ایک لڑائی میں نکلے اور ہم چھ آدمیوں کے پاس صرف ایک اونٹ تھا۔ ہم باری باری اس پر سوار ہوتے تھے۔ ہمارے قدم چھلنی ہو گئے تھے اور میرے دونوں پیر پھٹ گئے اور ناخن بھی گر پڑے، تو ہم نے اپنے پیروں پر پٹیاں باندھ لیں، اس لڑائی کا نام ذات الرقاع بھی اسی وجہ سے رکھا گیا (یعنی پٹیوں دھجیوں والی لڑائی) کیونکہ ہم پاؤں پھٹ جانے کی وجہ سے ان پر پٹیاں باندھتے تھے۔ ابوبردہ (راوی) نے کہا کہ یہ حدیث ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایک مرتبہ سنائی پھر (ریاکاری کے خوف سے) بیان نہیں کرتے تھے۔ اور ابواسامہ نے کہا کہ برید کے علاوہ کسی دوسرے راوی نے یہ زیادہ کیا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ اس کی جزا دے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1172]
