Hadrat Abdullah b. 'Ubaid reported that Harith b. Hadrat 'Abdullah led a deputation to 'Abd al-Malik b. Marwan during his caliphate. 'Abd al-Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) said:I do riot think that Abu Khubaib (i. e. Ibn Zabair) had heard from Hadrat 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) (about the intended wish of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [ (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) In regard to the alteration of the Ka'ba). Harith said: Yes, I myself did hear from her. He ('Abd al-Malik) said: Well, tell me what you heard from her. He stated that she (Hadrat ' A'isha) had said that Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) remarked: Verily your people have reduced (the area) of the House from its (original foundations, and if they had not recently abandoned polytheism (and embraced Islam) I would have reversed it to (those foundations) which they had left out of it. nd if your people would take initiative after me in rebuilding it, then come along with me so that I should show you what they have left out of it. He showed her about fifteen cubits of area from the side of Hatim (that they had separated). This is the narration transmitted by 'Abdullah b. Ubaid. Walid b. 'Ata' has, however, made this addition to it:" Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: I would have made two doors on the level of the ground (facing) the east and the west. Do you know why your people raised the level of its door (i. e. the door of the Ka'ba)? She said: No. He said: (They did it) out of vanity so that (they might be in a position) to grant admittance to him only whom they wished. When a person intended to get into it, they let him climb (the stairs), and as he was about to enter, they pushed him and he fell down." 'Abd al-Malik said to Harith; Did you yourself hear her saying this? He said: Yes. He (Harith) said that he ('Abd al-Malik) scratched the ground with his staff for some time and then said: I wish I had left his (Hadrat Ibn Zubair's) work there

محمد بن بکر نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی ( کہا ) ہمیں ابن جریج نے خبر دی انھوں نے کہا : میں نے عبد اللہ بن عبید بن عمیر اور ولید بن عطاء سے سنا وہ دونوں حارث بن عبداللہ بن ابی عبد اللہ بن ابی ربیعہ سے حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے عبد اللہ بن عبید نے کہا حارث بن عبد اللہ ۔ عبد الملک بن مروان کی خلا فت کے دوران میں اس کے پاس آئے عبد الملک نے کہا : میرا خیال نہیں کہ ابو خبیب یعنی ابن حضرت زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے جو سننے کا دعویٰ کرتے تھے وہ ان سے سنا ہو ۔ حارث نے کہا : کیوں نہیں ! میں نے خود ان ( ( حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ) سے سنا ہے اس نے کہا : تم نے اس سے سنا وہ کیا کہتی تھیں ؟ کہا : انھوں ( حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ) نے کہا تھا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فر ما ا : "" بلا شبہ تمھاریقوم نے ( اللہ کے گھر کی عمارت میں کمی کر دی اور اگر ان کا زمانہ شر ک قریب کا نہ ہو تا تو جو انھوں نے چھوڑ اتھا میں اسے دوبارہ بنا تا اور تمھا ری قوم کا اگر میرے بعد اسے دوبارہ بنا نے کا خیال ہو تو آؤ میں تمھیں دکھا ؤں انھوں نے اس میں سے کیا چھوڑ اتھا پھر آپ نے انھیں ساتھ ہاتھ کے قریب جگہ دکھا ئی ۔ یہ عبد اللہ بن عبید کی حدیث ہے ولید بن عطا ء نے اس میں یہ اضافہ کیا : نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : "" اور میں زمین سے لگے ہو ئے اس کے مشرقی اور مغربی دو دروازے بنا تا ۔ اور کیا تو جا نتی ہو تمھا ری قوم نے اس کے دروازے کو اونچا کیوں کیا ؟ "" ( حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے ) کہا میں نے عرض کی نہیں آپ نے فر ما یا : "" خود کو اونچا دکھا نے کے لیے تا کہ اس ( گھر ) میں صرف وہی داخل ہو جسے وہ چا ہیں جب کو ئی آدمی خود اس میں دا خل ہو نا چا ہتا تو وہ اسے ( سیڑھیاں ) چڑھنے دیتے حتیٰ کہ جب وہ داخل ہو نے لگتا تو وہ اسے دھکا دے دیتے اور وہ گر جا تا ۔ عبد الملک نے حارث سے کہا : تم نے خود انھیں یہ کہتے ہو ئے سنا ؟انھوں نے کہا : ہاں !کہا : تو اس نے گھڑی بھر اپنی چھڑی سے زمین کو کریدا ، پھر کہا : کا ش!میں انھیں ( ابن حضرت زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو ) اور جس کا م کی ذمہ داری انھوں نے اٹھا ئی اسے چھوڑ دیتا ۔
