Hadrat Jabir said:Hadrat Abu Bakr came and asked permission to go in to see the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), but found the people seated at his door, none of them having been given permission. Permission was, however, given to Hadrat Abu Bakr and he entered. ‘Umar then came forward, and when he had asked and had been granted permission he found the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sitting sad and silent with his wives around him. He told that he decided to say something which would make the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) laugh, so he said, “Messenger of God, I wish you had seen the daughter of Kharija when she asked me for extra money and I got up and slapped her on the neck.” the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) laughed and said, “They are around me as you see asking for extra money.” Hadrat Abu Bakr then got up, went to ‘A’isha and slapped her on the neck, and ‘Umar did the same to Hadrat Hafsa, both of them saying, “Are you asking God’s Messenger for what he does not possess?” They all replied, “We swear by God that we never ask God’s Messenger for anything he does not possess.” Thereafter he withdrew from them for a month or twenty-nine days. Then this verse came down, “O prophet, say to your wives ... for those who do well among you a great reward” (Al-Qur’an 33:28 f). He then went first to ‘A’isha and said, “I want to propound something to you, ‘A’isha, but wish no hasty reply before you consult your parents.” When she had asked him what it was and he had recited the verse to her she said, “Shall I consult my parents about you, Messenger of God? Nay, I choose God, His Messenger, and the final abode; but I ask you not to tell any of your wives what I have said.” He replied, “Not one of them will ask me without my informing her. God did not send me to be harsh or cause harm, but sent me to teach and make things easy.”

الترجمة الأردية
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس اندر جانے کی اجازت مانگی تو دیکھا کہ لوگ آپ کے دروازے پر بیٹھے ہیں اور کسی کو اجازت نہیں ملی۔ حضرت ابوبکر کو اجازت ملی اور داخل ہوئے۔ پھر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آئے، اجازت مانگی، ملی تو نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ آپ بیٹھے ہیں، آپ کی بیویاں آپ کے گرد ہیں اور آپ غمگین اور خاموش ہیں۔ فرمایا: میں نے سوچا کوئی ایسی بات کہوں جس سے نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہنسیں۔ تو عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اگر آپ بنت خارجہ کو دیکھتے کہ اس نے مجھ سے خرچ مانگا تو میں نے اس کی گردن پر تھپڑ مارا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہنس پڑے اور فرمایا: یہ میرے گرد بیٹھی ہیں جیسا کہ تم دیکھ رہے ہو، مجھ سے خرچ مانگ رہی ہیں۔ حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ کی طرف بڑھے اور ان کی گردن پکڑی اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حفصہ کی طرف بڑھے اور ان کی گردن پکڑی، دونوں کہہ رہے تھے: تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے وہ چیز مانگتی ہو جو آپ کے پاس نہیں ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے ایسی چیز کبھی نہیں مانگیں گے جو آپ کے پاس نہ ہو۔ پھر آپ نے ان سے ایک مہینہ یا انتیس دن علیحدگی اختیار فرمائی۔ پھر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: اے نبی! اپنی بیویوں سے کہو... یہاں تک کہ: تم میں سے نیکی کرنے والیوں کے لیے بڑا اجر ہے۔ آپ نے پہلے حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ سے فرمایا: اے حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ! میں تمہارے سامنے ایک بات رکھنا چاہتا ہوں، چاہتا ہوں کہ جلدی نہ کرو جب تک اپنے والدین سے مشورہ نہ کر لو۔ انہوں نے عرض کیا: وہ کیا بات ہے یا رسول اللہ؟ آپ نے آیت تلاوت فرمائی۔ انہوں نے کہا: کیا آپ کے بارے میں میں والدین سے مشورہ کروں؟ بلکہ میں اللہ اور اس کے رسول اور آخرت کا گھر اختیار کرتی ہوں اور آپ سے گزارش ہے کہ اپنی کسی بیوی کو میری بات نہ بتائیں۔ فرمایا: ان میں سے جو بھی مجھ سے پوچھے گی میں بتاؤں گا کیونکہ اللہ نے مجھے تنگ کرنے والا یا تنگی ڈھونڈنے والا بنا کر نہیں بھیجا بلکہ معلم اور آسانی کرنے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے۔ (مسلم)
