Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna informed us, he said: Uqba ibn Mukram narrated to us, he said: Yunus ibn Bukayr informed us, he said: Yunus ibn Amr narrated to me, from his father, from Abu Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When the deceased is placed in his grave, he hears the sound of their sandals as they turn away from him. Two angels come to him and make him sit up and say to him: 'What did you use to say about this man Muhammad?' As for the believer, he says: 'I testify that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.' It is said to him: 'Look at your place in the Fire that Allah has replaced for you with a place in Paradise.' So he sees them both. As for the hypocrite or the disbeliever, it is said to him: 'What did you use to say about this man?' He says: 'I do not know. I used to say what the people said.' It is said to him: 'You neither knew nor followed those who knew.' Then he is struck with an iron hammer between his ears, and he screams a scream which everything hears except the two species (humans and jinn)."
