Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, the client of Thaqif, informed us, he said: Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Hanzali narrated to us, he said: Jarir informed us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, who said: Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed the tattooing women, the women who seek to be tattooed, the women who pluck eyebrows, and the women who file their teeth for beauty, those who change Allah's creation." He said: This reached a woman from Banu Asad called Umm Ya'qub, who used to recite the Quran. So she came to him and said: 'What is this hadith that reached me about you, that you cursed the tattooing women, the women who seek to be tattooed, the women who pluck eyebrows, and the women who file their teeth for beauty, those who change Allah's creation?' Abdullah said: 'Why should I not curse whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed, and it is in the Book of Allah?' The woman said: 'I have read what is between the two covers of the Mushaf and I have not found it.' He said: 'By Allah, if you had read it, you would have found it.' Then he said: {And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, abstain from it}. He said: The woman said: 'Indeed, I see some of this now upon your wife.' He said: 'Go and look.' He said: So she entered upon Abdullah's wife and did not see anything. She came to him and said: 'I did not see anything.' He said: 'If that had been the case, we would not have lived with her.'
