Abu Khalifah narrated to us, saying: Abdullah bin Raja narrated to us from Isra'il from Abu Ishaq from Abdullah bin Malik from Rib'i bin Hirash from Ali, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood for the prescribed prayer, he would say the takbir, then say: "I have turned my face to the One who created the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist, and I am not of the polytheists. Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my life and my death are for Allah, Lord of the worlds, who has no partner. And with that I have been commanded, and I am of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the King, there is no god but You, my Lord. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and acknowledged my sin, so forgive me my sins, for none forgives sins except You. And guide me to the best of character, for none guides to the best of it except You. And turn away from me the worst of it, for none turns away from me the worst of it except You. Here I am at Your service, all good is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I am by You and to You. Blessed are You and exalted. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You." When he bowed, he said: "O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed, to You I have submitted, and upon You I have relied. To You my hearing, my sight, my brain, my bones, and my sinews are humbled." When he raised his head from bowing, he said: "O Allah, our Lord, to You is the praise, the fill of the heavens and the earth and the fill of what You will of anything after." When he prostrated, he said: "O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who created it and opened its hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators." Then the last thing he would say when he sat for the tashahhud and wanted to give the taslim was: "O Allah, forgive me what I have done before and what I will do later, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly. You are my God, there is no god but You."
