الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Said al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made a retreat during the middle ten days of Ramadan seeking the Night of Decree. When the twentieth night passed, he returned to his residence and those who were in retreat with him returned. Then he made a retreat during one month, and a night passed from the month he was in retreat. He addressed the people and commanded them to do what Allah willed, then said: 'I used to make retreat during these ten days, then I saw that I should make retreat during these last ten days. Whoever was in retreat with me should make retreat during the last ten days. I was shown this night, then I was made to forget it. I saw myself prostrating in water and mud on its morning. Seek it in the last ten days and seek it on every odd night.' It rained that night, and the mosque, which had a roof of palm branches, leaked. My eyes saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) with traces of water and mud on his forehead on the morning of the twenty-first.
