Hadrat Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated: We were traveling with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When evening came and we drew near to the waters of the Arabs, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Who will go ahead of us to reach the water basin, drink, and give us water?" Jabir said: I stood up and said: Here is a man, O Messenger of Allah. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Which man will go with Jabir?" Jabbar ibn Sakhr stood up. We went to the well and drew a bucket or two into the basin, then we filled it until it was overflowing. The first to come upon us was the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He stated: "Do you permit me?" We said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He let his camel drink, then pulled her rein and she urinated. Then he turned her aside and made her kneel. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came to the basin and performed ablution from it. Then I stood up and performed ablution from the same place where the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had performed ablution. Jabbar ibn Sakhr went to relieve himself. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood up to pray. I had a cloak on me and I tried to cross its two ends, but it was not long enough. It had fringes, so I reversed it and crossed its two ends. I came and stood to the left of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He took my hand and turned me around until he placed me to his right. Then Jabbar ibn Sakhr came and performed ablution, then came and stood to the left of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He took both our hands together and pushed us until he placed us behind him. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kept glancing at me while I was unaware. Then I noticed. He gestured like this with his hand, meaning: tie it. When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) finished, he stated: "O Jabir." I said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah. He stated: "If your garment is wide, then cross its two ends; and if it is narrow, then tie it around your waist."
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت جابر بن عبد اللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ سفر میں تھے۔ جب شام ہوئی اور ہم عرب کے پانیوں کے قریب پہنچے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "کوئی ہے جو ہم سے آگے جا کر حوض پر پہنچے، پانی پیے اور ہمیں پلائے؟" جابر نے کہا: میں کھڑا ہوا اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! یہ ایک آدمی ہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "جابر کے ساتھ کون آدمی جائے گا؟" جبار بن صخر کھڑے ہوئے۔ ہم کنویں پر گئے اور حوض میں ایک دو ڈول ڈالے، پھر مٹی لگائی، پھر اسے بھر کر لبریز کر دیا۔ سب سے پہلے ہمارے پاس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور ارشاد فرمایا: "کیا تم اجازت دیتے ہو؟" ہم نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں یا رسول اللہ۔ آپ نے اپنی اونٹنی کو پانی پلایا، پھر اس کی لگام کھینچی تو اس نے پیشاب کیا، پھر اسے ایک طرف لے جا کر بٹھایا۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حوض کے پاس آئے اور وضو فرمایا۔ پھر میں کھڑا ہوا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے وضو کی جگہ سے وضو کیا۔ جبار بن صخر اپنی حاجت پوری کرنے گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے۔ مجھ پر ایک چادر تھی، میں نے اس کے دونوں کنارے ملانے کی کوشش کی لیکن وہ کافی نہ تھی اور اس میں جھالریں تھیں، تو میں نے اسے الٹا اور اس کے دونوں کنارے ملائے۔ میں آیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بائیں طرف کھڑا ہو گیا۔ آپ نے میرا ہاتھ پکڑ کر مجھے گھما کر اپنے دائیں طرف کھڑا کیا۔ پھر جبار بن صخر آئے، وضو کیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بائیں طرف کھڑے ہو گئے۔ آپ نے ہم دونوں کے ہاتھ ایک ساتھ پکڑے اور ہمیں دھکیل کر اپنے پیچھے کھڑا کر دیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مجھے دیکھتے رہے اور مجھے خبر نہ تھی۔ پھر مجھے محسوس ہوا تو آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اشارہ فرمایا یعنی باندھو۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم فارغ ہوئے تو ارشاد فرمایا: "اے جابر!" میں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ۔ ارشاد فرمایا: "اگر تمہارا کپڑا کشادہ ہو تو اس کے دونوں کنارے ملا لو اور اگر تنگ ہو تو اسے اپنی کمر پر باندھ لو۔"
