Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when he stood for prayer, faced forward and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then said: Allahu Akbar. When he bowed, he said the takbir and raised his hands when bowing, then straightened his back and did not lower his head nor raise it. Then he said: Allah hears the one who praises Him, and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders. Then he straightened until every bone returned to its place. Then he descended to the ground and said: Allahu Akbar, prostrated and kept his upper arms away from his sides, and turned the tips of his toes toward the Qiblah. Then he raised his head and said: Allahu Akbar, bent his left foot and sat on it, straightening until every bone returned to its place. Then he said: Allahu Akbar, then returned and prostrated. Then he raised his head and said: Allahu Akbar, then bent his left foot and sat on it until every bone returned to its place. Then he stood and did likewise in the other. When he stood from the two rak'ahs, he said the takbir and did as he did at the beginning of the prayer. When it was the prostration that is the conclusion of the prayer, he raised his head from it, moved his foot back and sat leaning to one side on his foot (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).'
