Hadrat Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated: We went out with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the expedition of Dhat al-Riqa'. A Muslim man captured the wife of a polytheist. When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) returned, the husband — who had been absent — came and when he was told, he swore that he would not stop until he shed blood among the Companions of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He set out following the trail of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stopped at a place and said: 'Who will guard us tonight?' A man from the Muhajirun and a man from the Ansar volunteered and said: 'We will, O Messenger of Allah.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'Then be at the mouth of the valley pass.' When the two men went to the mouth of the pass, the Ansari said to the Muhajir: 'Which part of the night would you prefer I take — the first or the last?' He said: 'Take the first part.' The Muhajir lay down and slept, and the Ansari stood to pray. The husband of the woman came, and when he saw the man's figure, he knew he was the sentinel. He shot him with an arrow that struck him. The Ansari pulled it out, set it aside, and remained standing in prayer. Then the man shot him with another arrow, and he pulled it out and remained standing in prayer. Then he shot him a third time, and he pulled it out, then bowed and prostrated, then woke his companion saying: 'Sit up, I have been attacked.' The Muhajir jumped up, and when the attacker saw them both, he knew he had been detected and fled. When the Muhajir saw the blood on the Ansari, he exclaimed: 'Glory be to Allah! Why did you not wake me when he first shot you?' The Ansari replied: 'I was reciting a surah and did not want to cut it short until I had finished it. When the arrows kept coming, I bowed and alerted you. By Allah, were it not that I might lose a frontier post the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) commanded me to guard, I would have let my soul depart before interrupting or completing it.'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ غزوہ ذات الرقاع میں نکلے۔ مسلمانوں میں سے ایک شخص نے ایک مشرک کی بیوی کو پکڑ لیا۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم واپس ہوئے تو اس کا شوہر آیا جو غائب تھا، جب اسے بتایا گیا تو اس نے قسم کھائی کہ وہ نہیں رکے گا جب تک اصحاب محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم میں خون نہ بہا لے۔ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے نقش قدم پر نکلا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ایک جگہ اترے اور فرمایا: 'آج رات ہماری حفاظت کون کرے گا؟' ایک مہاجر اور ایک انصاری نے کہا: ہم یا رسول اللہ! آپ نے فرمایا: 'تو گھاٹی کے دہانے پر رہو۔' جب دونوں گھاٹی کے دہانے پر پہنچے تو انصاری نے مہاجر سے کہا: رات کا کون سا حصہ تمہیں پسند ہے کہ میں تمہاری طرف سے سنبھال لوں، پہلا یا آخری؟ مہاجر نے کہا: پہلا حصہ سنبھال لو۔ مہاجر لیٹ کر سو گیا اور انصاری نماز پڑھنے لگے۔ عورت کا شوہر آیا، جب اس نے آدمی کی شکل دیکھی تو جان لیا کہ یہ لوگوں کا پہرے دار ہے، اس نے تیر مارا جو اسے لگا۔ انصاری نے تیر نکالا اور کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھتے رہے۔ پھر اس نے دوسرا تیر مارا جو لگا، نکالا اور کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھتے رہے۔ پھر تیسرا تیر مارا، نکالا، پھر رکوع سجدہ کیا اور اپنے ساتھی کو جگایا: بیٹھو مجھ پر حملہ ہوا۔ مہاجر اچھلا، جب حملہ آور نے دونوں کو دیکھا تو بھاگ گیا۔ جب مہاجر نے انصاری پر خون دیکھا تو کہا: سبحان اللہ! پہلے تیر لگنے پر مجھے کیوں نہ جگایا؟ انصاری نے کہا: میں ایک سورت پڑھ رہا تھا، نہیں چاہتا تھا کہ پوری کیے بغیر چھوڑوں۔ جب تیر مسلسل آتے رہے تو میں نے رکوع کیا اور تمہیں خبر کی۔ اللہ کی قسم! اگر اس مورچے کے ضائع ہونے کا خطرہ نہ ہوتا جس کی حفاظت کا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے حکم دیا تھا تو میں اپنی جان دے دیتا اس سے پہلے کہ سورت چھوڑتا یا پوری کرتا۔
