Abu Uthman al-Nahdi narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went out to al-Batha, and with him was Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him). He made him sit down and drew a line around him, then stated: 'Do not move from here, for some men will come to you, but do not speak to them, for they will not speak to you.' The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went where he wished. Then they (the jinn) kept coming to the line but did not cross it, then they would go back to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When it was the latter part of the night, he came to me and rested his blessed head upon my thigh. Whenever he slept, he would breathe audibly. While the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was resting upon my thigh, asleep, men came to me who were like tall camels, wearing white garments — Allah knows best how beautiful they were — until a group of them sat near his blessed head and a group near his blessed feet. They said among themselves: 'We have never seen a servant who was given the like of what this Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) has been given. Indeed his eyes sleep but his heart remains awake. Strike a parable for him: A master built a palace, then prepared a feast and invited the people to his food and drink.' Then they ascended, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) awoke at that point and stated: 'Do you know who those were?' I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He stated: 'They were the angels.' He stated: 'And do you know the parable they gave?' I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He stated: 'The Most Merciful built Paradise and invited His servants to it. Whoever answered Him entered His Paradise, and whoever did not answer Him, He punished and chastised.'
الترجمة الأردية
ابو عثمان نہدی سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بطحاء کی طرف نکلے اور آپ کے ساتھ ابن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تھے۔ آپ نے انہیں بٹھایا اور ان کے گرد ایک لکیر کھینچی، پھر فرمایا: یہاں سے مت ہٹنا کیونکہ کچھ لوگ تمہارے پاس آئیں گے، انہیں کچھ مت کہنا کیونکہ وہ تم سے بات نہیں کریں گے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم جہاں چاہا تشریف لے گئے۔ پھر وہ (جنات) لکیر تک آتے مگر اسے نہ لانگھتے، پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی طرف لوٹ جاتے۔ جب رات کا آخری حصہ ہوا تو آپ میرے پاس تشریف لائے اور میری ران پر سر مبارک رکھ لیا۔ جب آپ سوتے تو نیند میں پھونکتے۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم میری ران پر سر رکھے آرام فرما رہے تھے تو کچھ لوگ میرے پاس آئے جو اونٹوں جیسے لمبے تھے، سفید کپڑے پہنے ہوئے، اللہ بہتر جانے کتنے خوبصورت تھے۔ ان میں سے ایک گروہ آپ کے سرہانے بیٹھا اور ایک گروہ آپ کے پاؤں کی طرف۔ انہوں نے آپس میں کہا: ہم نے کوئی بندہ نہیں دیکھا جسے اتنا کچھ دیا گیا ہو جتنا اس نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیا گیا ہے۔ بے شک ان کی آنکھیں سوتی ہیں لیکن دل بیدار رہتا ہے۔ ان کے لیے ایک مثال بیان کرو: ایک سردار نے ایک محل بنایا پھر دعوت تیار کی اور لوگوں کو اپنے کھانے پینے کی دعوت دی۔ پھر وہ اوپر چلے گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اس وقت بیدار ہوئے اور فرمایا: کیا تم جانتے ہو یہ کون تھے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کا رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ فرمایا: یہ فرشتے تھے۔ فرمایا: اور کیا تم جانتے ہو انہوں نے کیا مثال بیان کی؟ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کا رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ فرمایا: رحمٰن نے جنت بنائی اور اپنے بندوں کو اس کی طرف بلایا۔ جس نے قبول کیا وہ اس کی جنت میں داخل ہوا اور جس نے قبول نہیں کیا اسے سزا اور عذاب دیا۔
