Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about what the Prophet's minbar (pulpit) was made of. He replied: "No one alive knows this better than I. It was made from the tamarisk wood of al-Ghabah (a forest near Madinah). A slave of a woman built it for the Messenger of Allah. When it was placed, the Messenger of Allah stood upon it facing the qiblah, said the takbir (Allahu Akbar), and the people stood behind him. He recited the Quran, bowed, and the people bowed behind him. Then he raised his head and stepped back until he prostrated on the ground. Then he returned to the minbar, and continued the rest of the prayer. When he finished, he addressed the people and said: 'O people, I did this so that you may follow me and learn my prayer.'"
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا گیا کہمنبر (نبویصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) کس چیز کا تھا؟ تو وہ بولے اس بات کا جاننے والا لوگوں میں مجھ سے زیادہ (اب) کوئی نہیں (رہا)۔ وہ غابہ (جنگل) کے جھاؤ کا بنا ہوا تھا، اسے ایک عورت کے غلام نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے لیے بنایا تھا اور جب بنا کر رکھا گیا تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر کھڑے ہوئے اور قبلہ رو ہو کر تکبیر (تحریمہ) کہی اور لوگ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پیچھے کھڑے ہوئے پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے قرآت کی اور رکوع فرمایا اور لوگوں نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پیچھے رکوع کیا، پھر آپ نے اپنا سرمبارک اٹھایا، اس کے بعد پیچھے ہٹے یہاں تک کہ زمین پر سجدہ کیا، پھر منبر پر چڑھ گئے اور قرآت کی اور رکوع کیا پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا اور پیچھے ہٹے یہاں تک کہ زمین پر سجدہ کیا۔ پس منبر کا یہ قصہ تھا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 249]
