Narrated Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him): Hypocrisy existed only up until the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (because Allah would inform him (peace be upon him) that such-and-such person was a hypocrite); but in this era a man is either a believer or a disbeliever (because Allah knows the state of the heart, and now the matter is judged by what is apparent).

سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہنفاق تو نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے دور تک تھا (کیونکہ اللہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو بتلا دیتا تھا کہ فلاں شخص منافق ہے) لیکن اس دور میں، یا تو آدمی مومن ہے یا کافر (کیونکہ دل کا حال اللہ جانتا ہے اب تو ظاہر پر معاملہ ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2195]
