Narrated Abdullah (bin Mas'ud) (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) drew a square, and inside it he drew a line extending out beyond the square, and along that line he drew small lines on both sides. He said: "(Inside the square) is man, and the square is his death which surrounds him from all sides. The long line that extends beyond the square is man's hope (aspiration), and these small lines are afflictions and mishaps (illnesses). If he escapes one affliction, he is caught by another, and if he escapes that one too, he is stricken by a third."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ (بن مسعود) رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک مربع شکل بنائی اور اس میں ایک خط اس شکل سے باہر نکلتا ہوا کھینچا اور اس خط پر دونوں طرف سے چھوٹے چھوٹے خط بنائے اور فرمایا:”(مربع کے اندر) آدمی ہے اور مربع اس کی موت ہے جو چاروں طرف سے انسان کو گھیرے ہوئے ہے اور لمبا خط جو مربع سے باہر نکل گیا ہے، یہ انسان کی آرزو (امید) ہے اور یہ چھوٹے خطوط آفات اور عوارض (بیماریاں) ہیں، اگر ایک آفت سے بچ گیا تو دوسری میں پھنس گیا اور اگر اس آفت سے بھی بچ گیا تو تیسری میں مبتلا ہو گیا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2093]
