Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge from the hardship of trial, from being overtaken by wretchedness, from the gloating of enemies, and from an evil decree. (The narrator) Sufyan said: The hadith contained three items, and I have added one; but now I do not know which of them is (the added one).

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیانبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمبلا کی مشقت، اور بدبختی کے پہنچنے اور دشمنوں کے خوش ہونے اور تقدیر کی برائی سے پناہ مانگتے تھے۔ (راوی حدیث) سفیان نے کہا کہ حدیث میں تین باتیں تھیں، ایک میں نے بڑھا دی ہے اب میں نہیں جانتا کہ وہ ان میں سے کون سی ہے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2080]
