Narrated Aisha as-Siddiqah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her): Every night, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to his bed (to sleep), he would join his two palms together and recite over them "Qul huwa Allahu Ahad," "Qul a'udhu bi Rabb al-Falaq," and "Qul a'udhu bi Rabb an-Nas," and (blow) breathe upon them, then pass them over as much of his body as he could reach. He would first pass them over his blessed head and blessed face, and then over the front of his whole body, and he (peace be upon him) would do this three times.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمہر رات کو، جب (سونے کے لیے) اپنے بستر پر جاتے تو اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیاں ملا کر ان پر ((قل ھو اﷲ احد))، ((قل اعوذ بربّ الفلق)) اور ((قل اعوذ بربّ النّاس)) پڑھ کر (پھونک مارتے) دم کرتے تھے پھر انھیں اپنے تمام بدن پر جہاں تک ہو سکتا پھیرتے تھے۔ پہلے اپنے سرمبارک اور چہرہ مبارک پر پھیرتے اور بعدازاں اپنے تمام اگلے جسم پر پھرتے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتین مرتبہ ایسا ہی کرتے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1814]
