Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) appointed Zaid bin Harithah as the commander of the Battle of Mutah and said: "If Zaid is martyred, then Jafar will be the commander, and if Jafar is martyred, then Abdullah bin Rawahah will be the commander." Abdullah bin Umar said: "I was present in that battle. When we searched for Jafar bin Abi Talib, we found him among the martyrs with more than ninety wounds from spears and swords on his body."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے غزوہ موتہ میں سیدنا زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو امیر بنایا پھر فرمایا:”اگر زید شہید ہو جائیں تو جعفر امیر ہیں اور اگر جعفر شہید ہو جائیں تو عبداللہ بن رواحہ امیر ہیں سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں اس لڑائی میں موجود تھا جب ہم نے سیدنا جعفر بن ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہ کو تلاش کیا تو انھیں شہیدوں میں پایا اور ہم نے نوے سے کچھ اوپر نیزے اور تلوار کے زخم ان کے جسم پر دیکھے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1657]
