حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أُتِيَ بِأُسَارَى، وَأُتِيَ بِالْعَبَّاسِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبٌ، فَنَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَهُ قَمِيصًا فَوَجَدُوا قَمِيصَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَىٍّ يَقْدُرُ عَلَيْهِ، فَكَسَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِيَّاهُ، فَلِذَلِكَ نَزَعَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَمِيصَهُ الَّذِي أَلْبَسَهُ. قَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ كَانَتْ لَهُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَدٌ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يُكَافِئَهُ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
It is narrated by Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) who states: On the day of Badr, captives were brought, and (Hadrat) al-Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with him) was brought without any garment. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) looked for a shirt for him, and they found that the shirt of Abdullah bin Ubayy fit him. So the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave it to him. That is why the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) took off his own shirt and placed it on him (at the time of Abdullah bin Ubayy's death). Ibn 'Uyayna says: He (Abdullah bin Ubayy) had done the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) a favour, so he wished to repay it.
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: بدر کے دن قیدی لائے گئے اور (حضرت) عباس (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) بھی لائے گئے جن پر کپڑا نہ تھا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کے لیے قمیص تلاش فرمائی تو عبداللہ بن اُبیّ کی قمیص ان کے قد پر آتی تھی۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے وہ قمیص انہیں پہنائی۔ اسی وجہ سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے (عبداللہ بن اُبیّ کی وفات پر) اپنی قمیص اتار کر اسے پہنائی۔ ابن عیینہ فرماتے ہیں: (عبداللہ بن اُبیّ کا) نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر ایک احسان تھا تو آپ نے اس کا بدلہ دینا چاہا۔
