Muhammad bin Sabiq narrated to us — or al-Fadl bin Ya'qub from him — Shayban Abu Mu'awiya narrated to us, from Firas, he said: al-Sha'bi (upon him be mercy) said: Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated to me that his father was martyred on the Day of Uhud and left behind six daughters and debts upon him. When the season of harvesting dates arrived, I came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), you know that my father was martyred on the Day of Uhud and left behind a great deal of debt, and I would like the creditors to see you (so that they may be lenient). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: Go and pile each type of date separately. I did so, then I invited him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When the creditors saw him, at that moment they became even more aggressive in demanding their dues from me. When he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw what they were doing, he walked around the largest pile three times, then sat upon it, and declared: Call your companions (the creditors). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) continued measuring out dates for them until Allah the Exalted had fully settled my father's debt. By Allah, I would have been content if Allah the Exalted had paid off my father's debt and I returned to my sisters without even a single date. But by Allah, all the piles remained intact, to the extent that I would look at the pile upon which the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had been sitting, and it seemed as though not even a single date had diminished from it. Abu Hadrat Abdullah (Imam al-Bukhari, upon him be mercy) explained: 'ughru bi' means they were incited against me, as in the verse: {And We cast between them enmity and hatred}.

ہم سے محمد بن سابق نے بیان کیا، یا فضل بن یعقوب نے ان سے، ہم سے شیبان ابو حضرت معاویہ نے بیان کیا، فراس سے، انہوں نے فرمایا: شعبی رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے فرمایا: مجھ سے حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ انصاری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ ان کے والد غزوۂ اُحد میں شہید ہوئے اور چھ بیٹیاں چھوڑیں اور ان پر قرض بھی تھا۔ جب کھجوریں توڑنے کا موسم آیا تو میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آپ جانتے ہیں کہ میرے والد غزوۂ اُحد میں شہید ہوئے اور ان پر بہت زیادہ قرض تھا، اور میں چاہتا ہوں کہ قرض خواہ آپ کو دیکھ لیں (تاکہ نرمی کریں)۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: جاؤ اور ہر قسم کی کھجوریں الگ الگ ڈھیر میں رکھو۔ میں نے ایسا ہی کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو بلایا۔ جب قرض خواہوں نے آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیکھا تو اس وقت وہ مجھ پر اور بھی سخت ہو گئے (یعنی اپنا قرض جلدی وصول کرنا چاہنے لگے)۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دیکھا کہ وہ کیا کر رہے ہیں تو سب سے بڑے ڈھیر کے گرد تین بار چکر لگایا، پھر اس پر بیٹھ گئے اور ارشاد فرمایا: اپنے ساتھیوں (قرض خواہوں) کو بلاؤ۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان کو ناپ ناپ کر دیتے رہے یہاں تک کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے میرے والد کی امانت (قرض) ادا فرما دی۔ اللہ کی قسم! میں اس پر بھی راضی تھا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ میرے والد کی امانت ادا فرما دے اور میں اپنی بہنوں کے پاس ایک کھجور بھی لے کر نہ لوٹوں۔ لیکن اللہ کی قسم! سارے ڈھیر سالم رہے، حتیٰ کہ میں اس ڈھیر کو دیکھتا تھا جس پر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بیٹھے تھے، ایسا لگتا تھا گویا اس میں سے ایک کھجور بھی کم نہیں ہوئی۔ ابو عبداللہ (امام بخاری رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ) نے فرمایا: «أُغْرُوا بِي» یعنی مجھ پر بھڑکائے گئے، جیسے «فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ» (ہم نے ان کے درمیان دشمنی اور بغض ڈال دی)۔
