Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Dawr narrated to us saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us from Sufyan from Abu Ishaq from Sa'id ibn Wahb from Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) that he said: When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood for prayer, he would say: «I have turned my face to the One Who created the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist, and I am not one of the polytheists. Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds, Who has no partner. And with that I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the King, there is no deity except You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me all my sins, for none forgives sins except You. And guide me to the best of character, for none guides to the best of it except You. And turn away from me the worst of it, for none turns away the worst of it except You. Here I am at Your service and in support of You. All good is in Your Hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I exist by You and return to You. Blessed are You and Exalted. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.»
