وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ نَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَعْمَلُ لِنَفْسِهِ فَيُحِبُّهُ النَّاسُ قَالَ تِلْكَ عَاجِلُ بُشْرَى الْمُؤْمِنِ وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا أَبُو ذَرٍّ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَعْمَلُ لِنَفْسِهِ فَيُحِبُّهُ النَّاسُ قَالَ تِلْكَ عَاجِلُ بُشْرَى الْمُؤْمِنِ وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا أَبُو ذَرٍّ

Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Samit, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, a man does deeds for himself and the people love him for it. He said: That is the immediate glad tidings of the believer. This statement is not known to be narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) except by Abu Dharr.
