حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ قَالَ نَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا بَرْزَةَ وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْحَوْضِ قَالَ فَأَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ دَخَلَ مَعَهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدِيَّكُمْ هَذَا لَدَحْدَاحٌ قَالَ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهَا أَبُو بَرْزَةَ قَالَ مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنْ أَعِيشَ حَتَّى أُعَيَّرَ بِصُحْبَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ لَا تُعَيَّرُ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ وَسَأَلَهُ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَوْضِ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ إِنَّ لِي حَوْضًا فَمَنْ كَذَّبَ بِهِ فَلَا أَوْرَدَهُ اللَّهُ يَعْنِي إِيَّاهُ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدِيَّكُمْ هَذَا لَدَحْدَاحٌ قَالَ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهَا أَبُو بَرْزَةَ قَالَ مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنْ أَعِيشَ حَتَّى أُعَيَّرَ بِصُحْبَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ لَا تُعَيَّرُ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ وَسَأَلَهُ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَوْضِ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ إِنَّ لِي حَوْضًا فَمَنْ كَذَّبَ بِهِ فَلَا أَوْرَدَهُ اللَّهُ يَعْنِي إِيَّاهُ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Ma'mar narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Mas'adah narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Salam ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us, he said: I saw Abu Barzah, and Ibn Ziyad sent to him asking about the Basin [al-Hawd]. He said: Someone who entered with him told me that when Ibn Ziyad saw him, he said: 'This follower of Muhammad of yours is indeed short and stout.' When Abu Barzah heard this, he said: 'I never thought I would live until I would be reproached for my companionship of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).' He was told: 'You are not being reproached for that.' Then Ibn Ziyad asked him about the Basin, and he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say -- I think he said: I have a Basin, and whoever denies it, may Allah not bring him to it' -- meaning Ibn Ziyad.
