حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ قَالَ نَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَحَوْلَهُ نَاسٌ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَاسْتَقْبَلِ الْقِبْلَةَ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى صَلَاتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْكَ ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ فَرَجَعَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَجَعَلْنَا نَرْمُقُ صَلَاتَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْكَ ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ فَأَعَادَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَدْرِي مَا تَعِيبُ عَلَيَّ مِنْ صَلَاتِي وَمَا أَلَوْتُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ لَا تَتِمُّ صَلَاةُ أَحَدِكُمْ حَتَّى يُسْبِغَ الْوضُوءَ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ فَيَغْسِلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى مِرْفَقَيْهِ وَيَمْسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ إِلَى كَعْبَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ اللَّهَ وَيَحْمَدُهُ وَيَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِيهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْكَعُ فَيَضَعُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ حَتَّى يُقِيمَ صُلْبَهُ وَيَسْتَوِيَ قَائِمًا وَيَأْخُذُ كُلُّ عَظْمٍ مَأْخَذَهُ ثُمَّ يُمَكِّنُ وَجْهَهُ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ جَبْهَتُهُ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ قَاعِدًا عَلَى مَقْعَدَتِهِ وَيُقِيمُ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ فَيَسْجُدُ حَتَّى يُمَكِّنَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَطْمَئِنَّ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ فَيَرْفَعُ فَوَصَفَ هَكَذَا فَإِذَا لَمْ يَفْعَلْ هَكَذَا لَمْ تَتِمَّ صَلَاتُهُ قَالَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَحَدِيثُ رِفَاعَةَ أَتَمُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَحَوْلَهُ نَاسٌ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَاسْتَقْبَلِ الْقِبْلَةَ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى صَلَاتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْكَ ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ فَرَجَعَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَجَعَلْنَا نَرْمُقُ صَلَاتَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْكَ ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ فَأَعَادَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَدْرِي مَا تَعِيبُ عَلَيَّ مِنْ صَلَاتِي وَمَا أَلَوْتُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ لَا تَتِمُّ صَلَاةُ أَحَدِكُمْ حَتَّى يُسْبِغَ الْوضُوءَ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ فَيَغْسِلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى مِرْفَقَيْهِ وَيَمْسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ إِلَى كَعْبَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ اللَّهَ وَيَحْمَدُهُ وَيَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِيهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْكَعُ فَيَضَعُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ حَتَّى يُقِيمَ صُلْبَهُ وَيَسْتَوِيَ قَائِمًا وَيَأْخُذُ كُلُّ عَظْمٍ مَأْخَذَهُ ثُمَّ يُمَكِّنُ وَجْهَهُ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ جَبْهَتُهُ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ قَاعِدًا عَلَى مَقْعَدَتِهِ وَيُقِيمُ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ فَيَسْجُدُ حَتَّى يُمَكِّنَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَيَطْمَئِنَّ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ فَيَرْفَعُ فَوَصَفَ هَكَذَا فَإِذَا لَمْ يَفْعَلْ هَكَذَا لَمْ تَتِمَّ صَلَاتُهُ قَالَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَحَدِيثُ رِفَاعَةَ أَتَمُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ajlan narrated to us, from Ali ibn Yahya ibn Khallad, from his father, from his uncle Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' - and he was a veteran of Badr - who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, in the mosque when a man entered. And Hudbah narrated to us, he said: Hammam narrated to us, from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah, from Ali ibn Yahya ibn Khallad, from his father, from his uncle, may Allah be well pleased with him, who said: While the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, was in the mosque with people around him, a man came and faced the qiblah. When he finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, and the people. The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said to him: "And upon you. Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He went back and prayed, then came. We began watching his prayer. When he finished, he came and greeted the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, and the people. The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said to him: "And upon you. Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He repeated it two or three times. The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I do not know what you find wrong with my prayer, and I did my best." The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said: "Indeed, the prayer of any of you is not complete until he perfects the ablution as Allah has commanded him - washing his hands and face, and his arms to the elbows, and wiping over his head, and [washing] his feet to the ankles. Then he says Allahu Akbar and praises Him, and recites from the Quran what Allah has permitted him. Then he says Allahu Akbar and bows, placing his palms on his knees until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he says 'Allah hears whoever praises Him' until he straightens his back and stands upright, and every bone takes its place. Then he places his face - and I have heard him say 'his forehead' - [in prostration] until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he says Allahu Akbar and raises his head until he is sitting upright on his seat and straightens his back. Then he says Allahu Akbar and prostrates until he places his face [on the ground] and his joints relax and are at ease. Then he says Allahu Akbar and raises up." He described it thus, and said: "If he does not do this, his prayer is not complete." He said: This hadith - we do not know anyone who narrated it from the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, except Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' and Abu Hurayrah. The hadith of Rifa'ah is more complete than the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, and its chain is good [hasan].
