حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ نَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي الشَّحَّامَ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَلَا إِنَّهُ سَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ أَحْدَاثُ الْأَسْنَانِ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ أَلَا فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ يَعْنِي اقْتُلُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَأَنِيمُوهُمْ يَعْنِي اقْتُلُوهُمْ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ إِلَّا بِهَذَا الطَّرِيقِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا الْكَلَامُ وَنَحْوُهُ مِنْ وجُوهِ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ فَذَكَرْنَا كُلَّ حَدِيثٍ بِلَفْظِهِ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ شَيْءٌ لَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ غَيْرِهِ أَلَا إِنَّهُ سَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ أَحْدَاثُ الْأَسْنَانِ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ أَلَا فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ يَعْنِي اقْتُلُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَأَنِيمُوهُمْ يَعْنِي اقْتُلُوهُمْ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ إِلَّا بِهَذَا الطَّرِيقِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا الْكَلَامُ وَنَحْوُهُ مِنْ وجُوهِ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ فَذَكَرْنَا كُلَّ حَدِيثٍ بِلَفْظِهِ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ شَيْءٌ لَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ غَيْرِهِ

Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi Adiyy narrated to us, from Uthman - meaning al-Shahham - from Muslim ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father, may Allah be well pleased with him, from the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, who said: "Beware! There will emerge from my nation peoples who are young in age. They will recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their collarbones. So when you encounter them, kill them. Then when you encounter them again, put them to sleep" - meaning kill them. This hadith - we do not know anyone who narrates it from Abu Bakrah except through this route. This statement and its like has been narrated from the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, through various routes with different wordings. We have mentioned each hadith with its wording in its place. In the hadith of Abu Bakrah there is something that is not in the hadith of others.
