أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَارِثِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ نا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ قَالَ نا بَكْرُ بْنُ خُنَيْسٍ قَالَ نا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا انْقَطَعَ شِسْعُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَرْجِعْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْمَصَائِبِ وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَارِثِ قَالَ نا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ قَالَ نا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ قَالَ نا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثَ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ وَحَدِيثُ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ الَّذِي رَوَاهُ خَارِجَةُ حَدِيثُ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ شَدَّادٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَا رَوَاهُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ إِلَّا خَارِجَةُ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَنَّ أَحَدًا حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَنْ شَبَابَةَ إِلَّا إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ أَبِي الْحَارِثِ وَهُو رَجُلٌ ثِقَةٌ مَأْمُونٌ وَلَمْ يُتَابَعْ عَلَيْهِ وَخَارِجَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ فَلَيْسَ بِالْحَافِظِ

Isma'il ibn Abi al-Harith al-Baghdadi narrated to us, he said: Shababah ibn Sawwar narrated to us, he said: Bakr ibn Khunays narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Ubaydullah narrated to us from his father from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'When the strap of one of your sandals breaks, let him say "Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return" (istirja'), for it is among the calamities.' And Isma'il ibn Abi al-Harith also narrated it to us, he said: Shababah ibn Sawwar narrated to us, he said: Kharijah ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, he said: Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated to us from Abu Qilabah from Abu al-Ash'ath al-San'ani from Shaddad ibn Aws from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with a similar meaning. The hadith of Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated by Kharijah — the hadith of Shaddad ibn Aws — we do not know it to be narrated from Shaddad except through this chain, and no one narrated it from Khalid except Kharijah. I have not heard that anyone narrated it from Shababah except Isma'il ibn Abi al-Harith, and he is a trustworthy and reliable man, but he was not corroborated in this. Kharijah ibn Mus'ab is not a strong memorizer.
