أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ مَالِكًا عَنْ تَفْضِيضِ الْمَصَاحِفِ فَأَخْرَجَ إِلَيْنَا مُصْحَفًا فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي أَنَّهُمْ جَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُثْمَانَ ؓ وَأَنَّهُمْ فَضَّضُوا الْمَصَاحِفَ عَلَى هَذَا أَوْ نَحْوِهِ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us: al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to us: Dawud ibn Rushaid narrated to us: al-Walid ibn Muslim said: I asked Malik about silvering the Qurans (book covers). He brought out a Quran to us and said: My father narrated to me from my grandfather that they compiled the Quran during the time of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and they adorned the Qurans with silver, in this manner or similar to it.
