أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْوَرَّاقُ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا هَمَّامٌ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَّ خُطُوطًا وَخَطَّ خَطًّا نَاحِيَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَاذَا؟ هَذَا مَثَلُ ابْنِ آدَمَ وَمَثَلُ الْمُتَمَنِّي وَذَلِكَ الْخَطُّ الْأَمَلُ بَيْنَمَا يَأْمُلُ إِذْ جَاءَهُ الْمَوْتُ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Ali al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Rudhbari the jurist narrated to us... from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) drew several lines and drew one line off to the side, then said: 'Do you know what this is? This is the parable of the son of Adam and his wishful thinking. That line is hope (al-amal) - while he is hoping, death comes to him.'
