Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us... from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) laughing fully to the extent that I could see his uvula; he would only smile. She said: Whenever he saw clouds or wind, it was recognized in his face [i.e., he showed concern]. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, when people see clouds, they become happy hoping that there will be rain in them, yet when you see them, I notice displeasure in your face.' He said: 'O Aisha, what assures me that there is no punishment in them? A people were punished by wind, and a people saw the punishment [thinking it was rain clouds].' Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) recited: {Then when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said: This is a cloud bringing us rain} [46:24] - the verse.
