وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ يَعْنِي السُّلَمِيَّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ خَالُ النُّفَيْلِيِّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ فَقَرَأَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى بِالْعَنْكَبُوتِ وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِلُقْمَانَ أَوِ الرُّومِ 6348 وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ حَنَشٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ أَنَّهُ جَهَرَ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فِي صَلَاةِ كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ وَفِيمَا حَكَى أَبُو عِيسَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَهَرَ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْكُسُوفِ أَصَحُّ عِنْدِي مِنْ حَدِيثِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَسَرَّ الْقِرَاءَةَ فِيهَا قَالَ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ فِي الْجَهْرِ يَنْفَرِدُ بِهِ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَقَدْ رُوِّينَا مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ثُمَّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ مَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى الْإِسْرَارِ بِهَا وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl al-Qattan narrated to us in Baghdad... from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed during the solar eclipse four bowings and four prostrations. He recited Surah al-Ankabut in the first unit and Surah Luqman or al-Rum in the second. It was also narrated from Hanash from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited aloud in the solar eclipse prayer. Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi reported from Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari that he said: 'The hadith of Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited aloud in the eclipse prayer is more authentic to me than the hadith of Samurah that the Prophet recited silently.' Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The hadith of Aisha about reciting aloud is reported uniquely by al-Zuhri, and we have narrated from another chain from Aisha and then from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) what indicates silent recitation.
