Aisha narrated: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed in his house while ill, praying sitting while a group prayed behind him standing. He gestured to them to sit. When he finished, he said: The imam has been appointed to be followed. When he bows, bow. When he rises, rise. And when he prays sitting, pray sitting.' The Shaykh said: This was before his final illness. In his final illness, he prayed sitting while Abu Bakr and the people prayed standing, and this is what was acted upon.
