Ibn Umar said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say while in the mosque in a loud voice: 'Avoid idle talk in the mosque.' Ibn Umar said: I used to sleep in the mosque during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and I was a young unmarried man. Dogs would urinate and come and go in the mosque, and they would not sprinkle anything over it. Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih. Al-Isma'ili said regarding the meaning: The mosque was not locked against them, and dogs would frequent it, and they may have urinated in it. However, the knowledge of their urinating in it was not with the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions, nor did the narrator know exactly which spot it was. Since the Prophet ordered what he ordered regarding the Bedouin's urine, this indicates that the urine of other creatures is treated as impure as well, even if the severity of their impurity differs. The Sheikh said: We also narrated in the hadith of Maymunah regarding the puppy that the Prophet ordered it removed, then took water in his hand and sprinkled it on the spot. We also narrated from Abu Hurayrah regarding washing a vessel from a dog's licking with a specific number of times and pouring out water in which a dog has licked. All of this indicates its impurity.
