أَنْبَأَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا تَمِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقُولُ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقُمْنَا فَعَدَّلْنَا الصُّفُوفَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخ��رُجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا قَامَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ ذَكَرَ فَانْصَرَفَ وَقَالَ لَنَا مَكَانَكُمْ فَلَمْ نَزَلْ قِيَامًا نَنْتَظِرُهُ حَتَّى خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا وَقَدِ اغْتَسَلَ يَنْظُفُ رَأْسُهُ مَاءً فَكَبَّرَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ وَبِمَعْنَاهُ رَوَاهُ صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَرَوَاهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ نَحْوَ رِوَايَةِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَرِوَايَةُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْهُ إِلَّا أَنَّ مَعَ رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْهُ رِوَايَةَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ مُسْنَدَةً وَرِوَايَةَ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ وَابْنِ سِيرِينَ مُرْسَلَةً وَرُوِي أَيْضًا عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us of it, from Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, from Tamim ibn Muhammad, from Harmalah ibn Yahya, from Ibn Wahb, from Yunus, from Ibn Shihab who said: Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf informed me that he heard Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: The prayer was called and we stood and straightened the rows before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came out to us. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came and when he stood in his prayer place, before he said the takbir, he remembered and left. He said to us: "Stay in your places." We remained standing waiting for him until he came out to us having bathed, with water dripping from his head, and he said the takbir and prayed with us. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih from Harmalah. Salih ibn Kaysan narrated it from al-Zuhri with a similar meaning, and al-Awza'i narrated it from al-Zuhri similar to the narration of Uthman ibn Umar. The narration of Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah is more authentic than the narration of Ibn Thawban from him, except that with the narration of Ibn Thawban from him is the connected narration of Abu Bakrah and the mursal narrations of Ata' ibn Yasar and Ibn Sirin. It was also narrated from Anas ibn Malik.
