وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَغَيَّظ�� عَلَى أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى قِبَلَ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا صَلَّى فَلَا يَبْزُقَنَّ أَوْ لَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَحَتَّهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ لَطَخَهُ فِيمَا أَظُنُّهُ بِزَعْفَرَانٍ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا تَنَخَّعَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَنَخَّعْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ

Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Muqri informed us, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Qadi narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ayyub from Nafi' from Ibn Umar that the Prophet (peace be upon him), while giving a sermon, saw mucus on the qiblah of the mosque. He became angry at the people of the mosque and said: 'Allah the Exalted is in front of each of you when he prays, so let him not spit or expectorate.' Then he came down, scraped it with his hand, and — I think — smeared it with saffron. Ibn Umar said: 'When one of you expectorates, let him expectorate to his left.'
